Serendipitous meetings exist and often lead us to the liasons and relationships with people that we have deeper connections with, so it was with John-Paul Welton and Aline Perlade. My initial introduction to Welton London was interesting and definitely invited me to go further. Here was a brand that offered a wonderful collection yet it was something beyond that called me, the people behind its inception, the ethos with which they create and the quality of the components, a trinity that exemplifies the high arts of parfumerie in this oversaturated modern world, where new perfumes leak out of every nook and cranny. Welton London is a house that rises above the throng.
Talismans, nearly every single person has something that they consider to be talismanic, that object so personal that it signifies for us more than a mere object, it extends beyond its physicality to offer a protective amulet, a piece of fortune that graces us, a shield against misfortune, something to hold close to our heart or to finger in the depths of pockets. These two perfumes, Lucky Charm and Narcotic Elixir are part of The Talismanic Elixir collection, inspired by our human understanding of Talismans.

Conquer all fear, then there is room only for Joy………I wear you like a second skin, yet you extend beyond my confines, you are within me and without me. In your presence I am fortified and stronger, calmer and at peace. You cloak me in a perfection of stillness. within your influence I am untouchable by all manner of ills, walking as though impervious to the dangers of the world. My guardian and protector, I am swathed in blessed vestments. The storms may rage about me but I am safe in your haven, fortunate and the ways part freely under my feet. All is ease and calm, Lucky Charm gifts a confidence to walk our way, whatever obstacles we may encounter. It is the darker point of night in midst of dense trees, the path lit clearly from within, the gaze of her perfumed embrace holding me firm and a touch of her is all that is required to know that all is well. Her bright sight is clear and forthright, sparks of Elemi and Cardamon held in a tenderness with Olibanum reassuring and confident. All manner of doubts and fears take winged flight in her presence, she is the graces of ages bestowing beatitude. Written deeply within its notes there is the paradise attainable when we eliminate fears, bolstered by the force of our Lucky Charm, joy and beauty become our creed, a pathway open to all. Lucky Charm carries with her the promise of Eden, long-lost, carved in a richly warm tobacco with the sorcery of nutmeg, just enough to shift the weight of persepective, a mantra finished with a flourish of Kasmir Fusion.

She settles deftly into my skin, making herself at home, adding dimensions of confidence and joyous positivity with large doses of sensual certainty. I am swathed in assuredness, enduring beyond my personality. Lucky Charm is the force undeniable of belief and faith, extending outwards and allowing me to rest in the promise of the miraculous. Its elegance knows no bounds and cocoons me in poise and the truth of who I am and am yet to be. Yet, perhaps we are our own Lucky Charm if we let go of fear, this perfume shows us the way.

Spellbinding and completely irresistible how can I not surrender totally to this concoction, it is a timeless incantation of seduction, tailored in the finest attire and with the scent of freshly washed skin secreted away under the most luxurious of fabrics. Hints of what lies beneath but with a refinement verging on the maddening. The urges to explore only just restrained for the sake of propriety, however the exchange between the perfumed flesh of one and the olfactory detection of the other is all-telling, no holds barred, complete addiction.
I cannot yield fast enough to this invoking, a wilder sorcery at work. To abstain is an impossibility. Narcotic Elixir pulsates to its own rhythm, drawing you in and resetting your hearts pace to its own, a heartbeat of a most dangerously spiced rose, clad in the softest leather of such profound depth you know a few thorns must be the price of such ecstacy. A leather and saffron that screams danger but oh how you wish to be driven to the edges and out into freer air. There is within it the essence of discernment disguising an intense brush with a barely concealed desire, so powerful as to be straining at the corset ties for its release.
Breaths that would rush forth in rapid succession if the situation allows, an allure of savage proportions that must and will be satiated. Gratification is coming and in the meanwhile like any addict there is the sweet suffering, the yearning, the anticipation that stretches out before you like an endless drought- riven horizon with no end. You know that eventually those finer garments will litter the floor of a bedchamber, but time seems to have stilled and all you can feel is the longing in all its intensity.

In all your wilder imaginings you know where this will lead, in its revealing you can sense the eventual conclusion, a languid patchouli brushed with musken strokes on suffused skin. Narcotic Elixir is a rarified distillation, an epic tryst waiting to happen, heartbeats quicken, glances fervently grasped, discrete yet distended with the maelstrom of latent passion.
Narcotic Elixir is a promise of liquid desire, a hedonistic romp in the power of anticipation….
