Rarely we encounter perfumed creations that ‘become’ us, instead of ‘hijacking’, here from Shalini Parfums is Vanille Reve, a living dream, that allows us to embrace all of our hopes and desires. William Butler Yeats wrote it so eloquently;
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
Vanille Reve, composed by Maurice Roucel, treads softly in the haven of our dreams. I do not cave in easily, my resolve is absolute except in the face of such unerring Grace. One trembles at the epitome of this vanilla creation and I acquiesce to the inevitable. It is a buttermilk swath of vanilla, so sublime as to verge on the threshold of the exquisite.

Dreams are sacred vestments that we wear internally, Vanille Reve caresses them tenderly, inviting all possibilities. It becomes so much part of my skin as to be barely perceptible as something external, it has melded to my fabric and uncovered all my secret desires and dreams, breathing them into life. A vanilla of marblelike delicacy that is enveloping in the most achingly graceful arcs. A warmed, suffused luminosity of hope in all we would wish for. Daydreams gifted wings to soar on updrafts of certainty.
On its distinctive opening the anise is the perfect handmaiden to the vanilla, it adds a piquancy which draws back the veils and reveals the true depths of vanilla often cloaked by a sweetness that masks.

Enraptured and softened now into my voyaging, I am encapsulated in the liberation of sultry and lush florals, Tuberose, Jasmin and Gardenia, the holy trinity of intoxication at their most effusive, yet with a combined masterly refinement, never overbearing, an unadulterated immersion in drifts of tropical climes. Here is the gentle caress of warmed winds, amongst treasured dreams, echoing to cross upon longed for shores where a footprint awaits that matches your own. It cossets and extends its fascination upon me over time, not fading but opening to me in fully blossoming self as a lover yields to my touch in my arms.
The lapping of the ocean in clarity around your feet, all these physical sensations, yet more. It is the feeling we carry as we entertain our desires, fulfill them and carve them into our being.

Vanille Reve is the scent of heated stones and earth, full foliage dripping under hues of blue, the cool translucency of descending twilight. A fragrance of sun melded with flesh, flecked with sea crystals. Here are the strands of dreams let fly, to unfurl like banners, here they gather at your sunkissed feet in folds.
