Some can make a mockery of time, some can dissolve distance and distill it into perfumes of such exquisite refinement that they sing at the edge of your Soul and urge you to follow them beyond your perceptions. They are bottled dreams that beg the question are they a dream or are we. Teone Reinthal is a rare spirit indeed, warped and weft with a similar nature I cannot help but be transfixed, my flesh emanating her Siren call. Teone Reinthal Natural Perfumes are based in Australia and I am smitten by all I have encountered so far, they are limited edition, small batch productions and my list of desirous items grows longer with her every new release. Written words that accompany each perfume are no less alluring, she weaves incantations in silent brushstrokes across my skin, her words etched into the complexity of her perfumes as ink seeps into parchment.

Cernunnos - how can I begin to unravel for you what this ancient enunciation means to me, what it conjures when given life in her perfume. Teone has animated this great ancientness, taken a name, an essence, distilled it and given it form. All manner of earthly delights and trepidations spring from the vial. It is in turns brightness so blinding it darkens the eyes and yet also swirls in shadows that cannot be defined. It is the epitome of that which we know instinctly yet cannot give reason a voice.

I have known this conjured word all my life, it has travelled with me, in and out of sacred groves, in ceremonial circles of stones and in dappled forests thick with the weight of mosses and lichen, dripping lifeforce to a fecundity. Cernunnos has sat at my shoulder and been an ever presence, at times weighty and solid, at others flitting serendipitously in and out of my vision. I know him well, yet he knows me intimately.

Teone Reinthal’s Cernunnos is this being’s breath on my shoulder…… forest clad and shod of earth with millenia in his eyes. A seasonal cascade, the brillantly fused woods, resins and herbals contrive to envelop me in a shroud of reverent recollection……….

His Story

I have walked thousands of years in your shadows, within the breath of an instant, traversed time and age and all the spaces inbetween, there is nowhere I cannot reach to touch you. Linear constraints dissolve and dance lightly in airs.

In all seasons, the heated scent of my breath is upon the curve of your shoulder, a trembling akin to newly emerged ferns in their first consort with the winds, an effleurage on the plane of tender flesh.

At times a snorting impatient and aroused air upon you, in urgency to possess.

At times an elder whispering of the zephyrs crackling amongst the dried leaves, born of the final breath laden with autumnal vapors, fog laden with the scent of earth.

At times, the silent, almost extinct finality of winter’s gasping, the quietened respiring of the barely audible promise of quickening held within icy folds. I am the enclosure of unperceived stillness.
At times, resurgent and fecund, a sweet innocence undeniable, steppingly lightly beside in playful mischievousness of renewed vigour, a breath almost audible in its yearnings. Come, Come with me, step over the thresholds.
At times, a long and exaltant release of sighs, soft and warm caresses of the curves, as you and the land are one, a breath of a lover exploring the horizons, a never-ending climatic pleasure under heated firmament. Enfolding all of nature in the unison of a vibrant chant. The bending in devotions of all abundance in my wake.
