Rending the Veil - Part 1 of a Trilogy of Four. April Aromatics. Tanja Bochnig
Calling All Angels
‘Do I carve myself upon the Soul or am I eternally inscribed there’….. DsF
April Aromatics is a house headed by perfumer Tanja Bochnig, a woman as clear and visible to the knowing eye as ever there was. She creates from a stance of pure, unadulterated vision founded on a certain knowledge of her companions upon the path of creation. In each and every perfume of her collection there is the beautifully juxtaposed ethereality and groundedness, that yields to the wearer the sensations of known comfort and peace. I shall explore behind the veils in a discourse of 4, in 2 parts. Premier Part…..
Calling All Angels- 2013, was originally a composition for the Primordial Scents exhibition by Perfume Pharma, an exhibition inspired by the elementals of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
Daniel Nyman, Kirsty Mitchell, Roberto Ferri
Calling All Angels is an initiation, an invocation laced with sweet honeyed amber on thy tongue, the words from The Song of Songs, ‘ ‘drip sweetness like the honeycomb,; honey and milk are under your tongue’, echoing in my head. It rises up from its fleshy communion, a depth and density that is beyond the religious to something beyond the boundaries of dogma. It is an incense of phenomenal proportion’s that smoulders like an inextinguishable flame from the summoning of elemental forces. Far from an austere incense, wafted around chilled, musty stones, there is within its incensorial pleats an effusive intimacy that divests you of all the unnecessary garmentage, shrouding you in the delicacy, the sheer voile of its sacred fumes. Within its composition there is a perfection of nuance, swaying you from one perfect counterpoint to the other. Calling All Angels simultaneously effortlessly attires you in the flame that does not harm flesh and renders you naked without remorse in the presence of an essence that is rather powerful.
Rose descends in a cascade, emitting deep scented crimson, it is an addictive and primal rose, this is the only rose that ever existed and contains all other subtleties of rose within its ancientness, amongst the rain of petals, the first and the last, a gracing that is always above and below us.
Here writ strongly in its resinous forms is the silence of the voice, heard within that we know is not to be doubted, the intuitive knowledge of the Calling, and what is weft and warped around us when we stand bathed in such essence, trusting in the Calling and the Called Ones.
Armed at all quarters, Calling All Angels is the decanted elixir of unbounded spheres and the union of elegant protection and serenity.
Lily, oh lily I don't feel safe
I feel that life has blown a great big hole
Through me
And she said
Child, you must protect yourself
You can protect yourself
I'll show you how with fire

Erdenstern - April Aromatics by Tanja Bochnig, 2014 is the second in my Trilogy. So bright and verdant, never dying shoots leap from my skin, eversprung under immortal feet.
Avalon, that sacred Isle of the Blessed on the soil of my birth, often I have visited the region most credited with this magical isle of tale and legend. Within the heady brew that is Erdernstern, Vetiver rises in swathes of rich, musty earth, pierced with the greener than green shards of natures birthing, yet not far from waters edge. Herbal and potent, its fumes interplay on the inhaled winds to prepare for the way across from the land of mortal pains to the Isle of Apples.
Here is a wisten face, with eyes that reach far beyond the veils of mortal life, at once both masculine and feminine, holding within its completion all that has past, all that is and is yet to come, never ending.
Danu Seith-Fyr, Solitary Endless Path - Dark beauty Magazine, Kirsty Mitchell, Guiseppe Gradella.
Step in trust, for the way is marshy, all is not quite what it seems, even earth, air and water barely defined and lapping at each others feet, betwixt mortal and immortal life and the fringes of your existence.
Warmed earth, caressed by the sum of summers days yields up airs full of the hypnotic and soporific intermingling of summers end and autumnal reach, scented pollen, grains of immortality caught high and cast by broad winds to scatter the promise across marshland and reeds, to alight on fertile ground and await the turning year.
Erdernstern is a trance like intoxication, the bare foot tracing of steps through life to alight once more in the land of the Blessed. It is Persephonic and Demetric in its unfolding, speaking in tones that know no time and incant the promise of our original state, always returning and eternal. It is nothing less than a Homecoming for me .
